Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour Permanent Alizarin Crimson

Made with modified linseed and safflower oils, this paint can be thinned and cleaned up with water. It offers the same depth of colour, consistency, lightfastness, transparency and drying time as conventional oils, but with a safer and more convenient working environment.

Permanent Alizarin Crimson is a highly transparent vivid red with a blue undertone. Due to a pigment update, two versions may be in circulation: PR206 + PV19 or PR179 + PV19. The new PR179 mix provides a colour closer to the original but not entirely identical.

This paint is ideal for shared studios, schools and home use where solvents are not welcome. Used with Artisan mediums and varnishes, it remains fully water mixable and maintains its professional quality.
